Tom McDaniel
Prior to joining Kaplan & Walker LLP, Tom was most recently the Senior Director, Ethics & Compliance for L3Harris, a Fortune 200 Aerospace & Defense (A&D) company. Tom was responsible for leading both the strategic and day-to-day operations of the company’s E&C program that included oversight of 17 staff, Helpline/case management system, 600+ annual internal investigations, leader/employee engagement through training and communications, policy management, global Ethics Advisor program, and continuous improvement through employee ethics surveys, risk assessments, and self/third-party program assessments. Tom was also responsible for various other compliance areas including COI Disclosures and the company’s Human Rights/Trafficking compliance. Tom also assisted in Board reporting, annual ESG reporting, anti-corruption compliance, Insider Threat oversight, and import/export compliance.
Tom served on the Ethics & Compliance Association’s Board from 2024-2025, and as Working Group representative on the Defense Industry Initiative (DII) from 2015-2025.
Tom has extensive experience with mergers and acquisitions, including the combining of E&C programs through the merger of L3 and Harris, incorporating the culture through the acquisition of Aerojet Rocketdyne’s 5,000 employees into L3Harris, the combining of E&C programs through the Harris acquisition of Exelis, and establishment of a corporate E&C program at Exelis through a corporate spin-off from ITT.
Prior to L3Harris, Tom led the Ethics & Compliance programs at 2 other mid-sized A&D companies, Harris and Exelis, with similar responsibilities, but also including routine briefings of each company’s Board of Directors.
Prior to joining Exelis, Tom was with ITT Corporation for 15 years in a variety of roles and a broad range of responsibilities including IT Project Manager, IT Supervisor, IT Section Head, Lean Six Sigma BlackBelt, Trade Compliance Strategic Manager, Manager of Functional Excellence for Corporate Responsibility, and Manager of Sustainability.
Prior to joining ITT Corporation, Tom spent over 3 years at Cooper Industries with responsibilities in Information Technology and Environmental, Safety, and Health administration.
